Ghastly Motor Accident At Sango Ota, Ogun state Six Feared Dead

An accident at Owode junction in Sango Ota, Ogun state has left a tanker driver, Wale Olaitan dead and six others severely injured on Saturday, October 17.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that Mr Leye Adegboyega, the unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) said the accident occurred around 5:30 am.

The accident involved a petrol tanker and four vehicles at Owode junction and the FRSC boss blamed the tanker driver’s carelessness for the accident.
Mr Adegboyega said the tanker was fully loaded with petrol and was coming from Lagos to Abeokuta when it rammed into four vehicles which immediately resulted in fire.
He said the highly inflammable content of the tanker make the fire spread very quickly to neighbouring houses which resulted in the destruction of properties worth millions of Naira.
He said the tanker driver lost his life in the inferno while six persons – four males and two females – sustained injuries.

He said: “The corpse of the victim had been deposited at the mortuary at Ifo General hospital, Ogun, while other victims were referred to Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, for intensive treatment.”
He pleaded with the federal government as well as the Lagos and Ogun states government to repair the Owode road to prevent loss of lives and properties.
Accidents involving trailers often result in loss of lives and properties. A month ago, two trailers involved in an accident along Lagos-Ibadan expressway resulted in the death of 14 people.
