Speaking on the new measure, the director army public relations, Colonel Sani Usman in an address to news men in Abuja said the closure of the markets will restrict illicit trading and smuggling in the northeast.
According to Channels TV, another measure taken by the army to beef up security in the northeast includes collaborating with the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to ensure thorough search of vehicles and commuters and arrest anyone in possession of arms and ammunitions.
Likewise, the army has opened up on how some of its soldiers are making a mockery of its efforts to win the war against insurgency in the country.
According to Colonel Sani Usman, some of their officers may have been in secret discussions with some of the insurgents, hence some of the setbacks being recorded by the troops who are on the battlefields with the terrorists.
Meanwhile, troops at different locations have reportedly made sure of victory as they destroyed enclaves of the insurgents, killed some of the terrorists and rescued hundreds of men, women and children.
Disclosing details of the recent military gains, Colonel Usman said this recent victory was recorded because the insurgents were believed to be on a retaliatory mission following the killing of a suspected Boko Haram Ameer during an ambush by the Nigerian troops at Kekeno.
