LAS VEGAS - 8 News NOW has learned more about a teen home invasion suspect, and the man that shot and killed him when he allegedly tried to break into his home.
The Clark County Coroner's officer has officially identified the 17-year-old teen as Manquise Leshon Adams.
The incident unfolded late Wednesday morning in the 1400 block of Daybreak Road near Vegas Drive and N. Jones Boulevard.
Metro said the call came in as a burglary call. The homeowner, who has been identified by his roommate as Matthew Ayers, told officers he was upstairs when he heard a loud crash through his downstairs window.
The homeowner shot the teen. Police said the homeowner started heading up the stairs to put on clothes, and that's when Manquise allegedly started to follow him. Metro said the homeowner shot and killed the Manquise.
The roommate said he and Ayers probably won't stay in the home for a while because they fear for their safety.
“I heard the gunshot -- yes I did,” said Christine Gragson, a neighbor.
Grageson, 93-year-old, lives just a few houses away from where it happened.
The homeowner also wounded a second teen. Gragson said she talked to the homeowner shortly after he shot and killed Manquise and wounded another.
"I said 'what's going on?' He came over to tell me what was going on. He said 'two kids broke into my house, and I shot him,' that's all he said,” Gragson said.
"He was 17. His life was cut down he was,” said Bobbie Adams, the teen's grandmother.
It's been a month of loss for Manquise's family. According to relatives 8 News NOW spoke with, the family just lost Manquiese's 20-year-old cousin, Taneshia on Dec. 13. She was shot and killed during a fight in North Las Vegas.

The family says it's a double heartbreak because it all has happened just days and weeks before Christmas.
"He was a kid, I am not saying he should have done what he did, but he's my nephew. In 10 days we lost two kids,” said Erica Adams, Manquiese's aunt.
Gragson says she's always been careful about keeping her home safe.
However, after seeing what happened to her neighbor, Gragson says she's considering getting a gun.

"He had to protect himself I don't blame him for shooting him,” Gragson said.
Gragson says this kind of crime is something she's seeing all too often.
"That's everywhere; that's all over town. The more people that come here, the more you are going to see that,” said Gragson.
Right now police are not saying if the homeowner will face any charges. The District Attorney is also reviewing the case.
